Wheat Disease Manager

Good decisions on disease management are crucial for profitability. Yet those decisions get more complex. The number of fungicide products increases - each with particular strengths and weaknesses against different diseases. New wheat varieties differ in their resistance to disease. The sensitivity of pathogens to fungicides shifts – sometimes dramatically. And the weather changes the disease risk.

The Wheat Disease Manager is a ‘decision tool’ to help crop managers make decisions about spray timing, product choice and dose. It provides information from HGCA trials on fungicide performance and variety disease resistance. Then it allows you to combine this with ‘live’ weather data and your own crop observations to assess disease risk. Then different spray programmes can be assessed, to see which are likely to be the most cost effective.

Wheat Disease Manager can be used during the winter to plan spray programmes. Then the plans can be updated at the key decision times (T0, T1, T2 and T3) to reflect the changing risk as the season unfolds.
